He arrived home early and quietly stopped at the kitchen door. What he witnessed changed how he saw his fiancée. The wedding was only three weeks away.

And his silence made Olivia feel secure.

On Saturday, more than 180 guests arrived at a luxury hotel in Atlanta.

White flowers filled the ballroom.

A string quartet played near the garden.

The tables were arranged exactly the way Olivia wanted.

Michael wore a dark suit.

Olivia appeared in the wedding gown she had spent months choosing.

From the outside, everything looked perfect.

Until something small happened.

A young waiter lost his balance near the bar.

A tray filled with empty glasses crashed onto the floor.

The sound made several guests turn around.

Olivia walked over.

She kept smiling because people were nearby.

But when she thought no one important could hear her, she lowered her voice.

“Are you incompetent, or what is wrong with you?”

The young man immediately bent down.

“I’m sorry, ma’am.”

“Do you know how much an event like this costs? If you do something like that again, I’ll make sure you never work here again.”

Michael was standing only a few feet away.

He heard every word.

This time, he wasn’t surprised.

He simply knew.

Minutes later, the ceremony began.

Olivia walked down the aisle between rows of guests.

Her mother cried.

Robert smiled from the front row.

Margaret remained serious.

When the time came to exchange rings, Michael held his for several seconds.

Then he looked up.

“Before we continue, I need to say something.”

The officiant froze.

Olivia frowned.

“Michael, what are you doing?”

He looked at the guests.

Then at her.

“I can’t marry you.”
