My family laughed at me on Thanksgiving. Everyone waited for my reaction. I simply stayed calm.

I didn’t.

I simply checked my watch.

Then the airport called with a message nobody at the table expected:

“Ma’am, your helicopter fleet is approaching…”

Suddenly, no one was laughing.

“Still taking public transport?” Mom asked from across the Thanksgiving table, her smile sharp. “Your sister has three cars.”
